FBA TARGETS TAMPA FOR 2019 EXPANSION

Tampa Gunners no BG

(Orlando, FL) – The Florida Basketball Association (FBA) has added Tampa, Florida to the list of expansion for the upcoming 2019 season.

The team, known as the Tampa Gunners, will be owned by an investment group led by former Florida Flight player Daniel Rodriguez. The team will be a travel only team, but will remain eligible for playoff competition.

“Our branding team plan gives new team owners a proper framework to build momentum for their team and adapt their business plans as needed to their market,” said FBA Commissioner Greg Kite. “The business part of professional basketball takes time to understand. It’s imperative for all of our teams to start off on the right foot, having an understanding of how to generate revenue through sports entertainment.”

The Gunners will play a full 10 game schedule this season, consisting mostly of road games against current FBA teams. The coaching staff and team has already been assembled.

“I’m so thankful for an opportunity to stay around the game,” Rodriguez said. “The FBA is really changing the culture of basketball, creating opportunities for players even beyond playing the game. I’m excited to build something solid for the city of Tampa.”

FBA fans can get their first look at the Gunners on February 23rd. The Space Coast Stars will host the Gunners in an exhibition game at Calvary Chapel in Melbourne, Florida. Game time is 1:15pm. Tickets are $5.00, and kids are free.

The FBA is a Florida-based professional basketball league providing a development, branding and exposure platform for athletes, referees and other individuals seeking to further their professional basketball career.
