FBA Week 1 Recap

(Orlando, FL) – The Florida Basketball Association (FBA) kicked off its season-opening weekend in exciting fashion with all three games requiring overtime for the finish.

On Saturday, April 27th,the Florida Flight (Orlando) traveled to Riviera Beach to take on the Palm Beach Knights in one of the highest scoring games thus far in the FBA. Despite trailing by 18 at one point, the Flight regrouped to force overtime and won by a score of 140-132. The Flight’s Corey Williams led all scores with 36 points, and also contributed 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Jon Admason also contributed 32 points, 16 rebounds and 9 assists.Germer Kinsey led the Knights with 25 points.

That same day, the Defending-Champion Tampa Bay Rebels hosted the Heartland Prowl at Freedom High School. The Rebels came out on top to win 123-122 in overtime. The Rebels Chris Stephenson led all scores with 24 points. He also added 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 steals. Charles Okwandu for the Rebels also added 22 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks.

Sunday, April 28th provided the Knights with an immediate opportunity to avenge their opening day loss to the Flight. Momentum carried over for the Flight, who held a 51-44 advantage at halftime. The Knights pushed ahead to force overtime by the end, but couldn’t recover from a barrage of 3 pointers from Ernest Jones and Mark King. The Flight won by a score of 117-108.

The Flight’s Jonathan Adamson picked up where he left off in game 1, contributing game highs in points (24) and rebounds (20). Jones and Corey Williams contributed 24 a piece, and Adam Waldo added 21 points and 14 rebounds. Germer Kinsey again led the Knights with 22 points.

On Saturday, May 5th, the Flight travel to Tampa to take on the Rebels.The game will be held at Freedom High School. Tip off is slated for 2:00pm.
