(Orlando, FL) – The Florida Basketball Association (FBA) has announced the addition of the Marion County Showtime Stallions, a team based in Marion County, Florida for the upcoming 2015 season.
The team will be owned by the husband and wife team of Chris and Trang Williams, owners of Go Showtime Entertainment, Inc., an entertainment company based in California. Mr. Williams, who played 13 professional seasons in the Philippines Basketball Association, also played briefly for the NBA’s Utah Jazz in 2009.
“The Showtime Stallions fits well with our plans for FBA expansion,” said Commissioner Greg Kite. “Ocala is an untapped market for minor league basketball, and we anticipate a strong following and support from the Marion County fans and media.”
The team will play their first game as an official member of the FBA in Orlando on January 29th. The Stallions will square off against the Palm Beach Knights at the illustrious Amway Center, home of the NBA’s Orlando Magic. The teams will play an exhibition game directly after the Magic play the Milwaukee Bucks.
“My wife and I are very excited to be a part of The Florida Basketball Association,” said Mr. Williams. “We look forward to not only bringing quality professional basketball product to Marion County, but also building a strong future for minor league basketball here in the state of Florida.”
